The Biography Bookshop is a London-based website which brings you the best of English-language biography. You can watch videos of 100 authors talking about their work, and you can buy their books - new or second hand - via Amazon. There is an index page for each book, with a photo and profile of the author and a summary of the book. There is also a link for each book to a video of the author talking about their work - providing a literary festival experience.
The books are displayed in nine categories. There are complete alphabetical listings of biographers and biographees. There are also listings of recent prize winners and of serial biographers who have publised two or more biographies.
CHOICE OF BOOKS
Prize winners. The core of our selection are biographies that have in recent years won, or been shortlisted for, book prizes including: Baillie Gifford Prize, Duff Cooper Prize, Financial Times Schroders Business Book of the Year, James Tait Black Prize for Biography, Orwell Prize for Political Writing, Pulitzer Prize for Biography, and Royal Society Science Book Prize.
Well reviewed. More widely, we include biographies, mostly published in the last twenty years, that have been well reviewed in publications such as the Guardian, the Observer, the Economist, the Times, the Financial Times, the Literary Review, the New York Times and the New Yorker.
Classics. We also include some highly regarded classic biographies which are still in print.
