Douglas Cooper (1911-1984) was a British art historian, art critic and art collector. He mainly collected Cubist works. He was involved with investigating who had dealt with stolen art during the war. After the war he bought a chateau near Avignon in France and converted it into a gallery of early cubist art.

After working in the City for many years, Adrian Clark started to write about the British mid-twentieth century art world. He began with articles and reviews for The British Art Journal (edited by Professor Robin Simon) and published his first book, British and Irish Art 1945-1951. From War to Festival in 2010. Richard Calvocoressi was director of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh from 1987 until 2007. He then served as director of the Henry Moore Foundation.
