Nigel Farage (born 1964) went straight into work after school as a commodities broker. In 1993 Farage became a founding member of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) which campaigned, successfully, for the UK to leave the European Union.

Michael Crick (born 1958) was educated at Manchester Grammar School and New College Oxford, where he graduated with a first in philosophy, politics & economics (PPE). While at university he edited the Cherwell student newspaper and was President of the Oxford Union. He started work as a trainee journalist at Independent Television News (ITN) going on to a career at Channel 4 News and at the BBC. He is the author of several books, including biographies of Arthur Scargill, Michael Heseltine, Alex Ferguson, and Jeffrey Archer.
